My First Project - Poster Collage
October 28, 2007My dear friends Katie and Ed got hitched earlier this month. It was a pretty action packed wedding - the bride and groom showed off their mad ballroom dancing skills (or would that be skillz?), I caught up with old high school friends and maybe even, uh, caught the bouquet. Plus there was champagne and dancing and cake eating and all kinds of other good wedding-y stuff.
I snapped a bunch of pictures at the event and thought they would make a pretty cool collage that I could make for the newlyweds. Kind of like a fun post-wedding gift.
So here’s what I started with:
And, with help from RocketLife, here’s what I made:
So how did I do it? Keep reading to find out!

I decided that I wanted to make a poster collage so I just let RocketLife do it’s thing and arrange the photos for me. Once the collage populated, I chose a different photo to be the “main attraction” - you can do this really easily by clicking the My Favorite Photo button (it’s the one circled on the left) or the Arrange Photos option from the Editing Options menu. Next, I was curious as to what would happen if I selected Customize Photos. All kinds of stuff!! I clicked on the Advanced Editing option and a bunch of other options came up - themes, editing, re-arranging photos and lots of other good stuff. Cool! Since this was a wedding, I chose the Romantic theme - appropriate, right? Plus it’s pink and girly and fun - all good things!
Next up, I decided to check out the other options available for my theme and found these adorable Placeable Graphics. Basically they’re like… digital stickers - c
ute little artistic touches to add to your collage. I picked a few of my faves and spiced up my collage with them. Fun, right?
There were a few additional RocketLife features that I wanted to try out. I experimented with the Photo Controls and rotated the photos that framed the main photo of the bride and groom dancing. It just gave the whole thing something a little more… special. Satisfied with the overall look, I wanted to make one final touch and add text - yup text! Now everyone who sees the collage will know that Katie and Ed tied the knot on October 6, 2007. So how did I do it?
From the Editing Options menu, I chose the Poster Text option. I simply typed in the text that I wanted to have show up on the collage, selected my fonts and font color and then placed it right where I wanted on the collage.
So what do you think? Easy, right? With Halloween just around the corner, I think my next project might have a very, er, spooky theme! Make sure to check back with me to see what happens when I turn my Pug dog, Lola, into a hula girl for Halloween!

I love pink and girly and fun! It looks awesome, Shea, thank you so much.
Got any Thomas the Train collage stuff? I’ve been promising my son for a while now that I would put all his pics of his “day out with Thomas” stuff together for a scrapbook but I just haven’t had the time. Got anything like that or at least some sort of “train theme”??
Okay so I haven’t exactly found a “train” theme per say but I absolutely love the collage options. And a print of a collage is only 0.39. You can’t beat that! Do you know how much that would have costed me to actually scrapbook??! I love it!
