Turning a Pic into a Background

November 7, 2007

While there are lots of cool backgrounds and themes via RocketLife, sometimes the best backgrounds are the ones you make yourself using your own pictures.

During a recent beach trip with my best pal, Martine, we snapped a lot of pics - us on the balcony of the beach house, us at dinner, us in the car, the beach… We like to commemorate everything, I ’spose.

So when it came time to putting the pics together, I wanted to really showcase how beautiful our surroundings were. I mean, check out how gorgeous the day was:

So how did I do it?

First, choose your pictures and select your project. I picked an 8×10 collage print. Then click Customize Collage Prints.. The first thing you’ll want to do is change your theme. I chose a classic theme and made it plain white. White sounds kinda boring, I know. But just wait. We’re gonna spice it up. After selecting the theme, click the Done button (the big green one at the bottom).

From there, you’ll want to choose the picture in your collage that you would like to set as the background by clicking on it. Then select Copy Photo to Background. Ta da!

Cool, right?

So what do you think? What other kinds of fun pictures would make great backgrounds too?

The Pug Mug

November 5, 2007

Ok, so I am so excited to show you guys this. Seriously.

Check it out:

Lola approves. :-)

Pretty cool right? All I did was select my pics, choose a mug size, select a theme, added Lola’s name and - ta-da! - I have a mug. It’s a good sized mug - nice and sturdy too, which is great considering how much I love my coffee in the mornings.

So what do you think? Give the mugs a try and send me a pic! I’d love to see what you make!

Halloween!

October 30, 2007

Tomorrow is Halloween and since I don’t have any Lil’ Sheas running around (yet), I tend to dress up the next best thing - my Pug, Lola.

I’m not even going to tell you how many treats I had to bribe her with to get her into this getup…

I decked out this fun Halloween theme with a few Placeable Graphics.  You can tell that I am kind of in love with the Placeable Graphics. Oh, who am I kididng?  I’m totally in love with them.

Julie, a fellow RocketLife-er, must have had the same idea - she made a Halloween collage of her cat, Lydia Rose:

Be sure to check out the cool Harvest and Halloween themes (and Placeable Graphics).   I’d love to see what you make with these themes!  And if you have any questions or want to submit some of your handiwork, please shoot me an email.

My First Project - Poster Collage

October 28, 2007

My dear friends Katie and Ed got hitched earlier this month. It was a pretty action packed wedding - the bride and groom showed off their mad ballroom dancing skills (or would that be skillz?), I caught up with old high school friends and maybe even, uh, caught the bouquet. Plus there was champagne and dancing and cake eating and all kinds of other good wedding-y stuff.

I snapped a bunch of pictures at the event and thought they would make a pretty cool collage that I could make for the newlyweds. Kind of like a fun post-wedding gift.

So here’s what I started with:

And, with help from RocketLife, here’s what I made:

So how did I do it? Keep reading to find out!
